Individual Events

Individual Events (often referred to as IEs or forensics) are competitive events that include acting, public speaking, and interpretation. This can include short preparation (impromptu, extemporaneous), platform (persuasive, informative, etc.), and interpretative (duo, prose, drama, etc.) styles of speaking.

Students interested in IEs should refer to the AFA website’s event descriptions, which can be found here.

Eligibility Rules:
All students, no matter their experience level in Individual Events, begin as “novices” in their first year of competition in college. After their first year, they will no longer qualify as novices, and also no longer qualify for novice awards.

Individuals that are not enrolled in undergraduate classes may not participate in Individual Events.
